Writing and publishing a book can be a daunting process. Do I need an agent? How do I find a publisher? What does an editor actually do? Do I need to go to grad school and get an MFA? How do I recognize a scam? Do I need a writing coach? A writing group? What does “self-publishing” and “hybrid publishing” really mean? Christina Ward will share the many pathways to publication, how to determine the best pathway for your work, and how to navigate an industry built by and for the privileged few. Attendees will receive informational handouts and other supporting materials as they learn. Christina will answer every question and offer tips on getting around, over, and through the gatekeepers. Feral Arts & Culture, a non-profit group dedicated to assisting working-class creators, sponsors this event.

Christina Ward is a writer, editor, publisher, and independent food historian. She is the President and Editor of Feral House, a publisher noted for their non-fiction books on outré topics. Her current book, Holy Food: How Cults, Communes, and Religious Movements Influenced What We Eat—An American History (September 2023), has been featured in the New York Times, Milk Street Radio, Atlas Obscura, KCRW’s Good Food, Coast-to-Coast AM, and many more.
