DESCRIPTION:TAPES FROM THE BACKROOM is the first installment of FILTH!’s Cactus Matinees. Wander into the back room for some vintage tapes, present work, and open discussion! This edition reframes queer porn, with an emphasis on the Video Store. FILTH! enters and expands the annals of queer film. Placing together queer history and queer presence in Moving Image, we invite you to get dirty with us!! These matinees are community focused educational events surrounding erotic queer works of the past and present. SEEN is a queer collective of young, fresh moving image makers and curators who aim to disrupt the system of pay to show festivals and censored queer spaces. Through collaboration with other community driven and alternative art spaces, SEEN highlights self defined and nonconformist works in aims to build the foundation for the rise of the Cinematic Gaze/Gayz. Featured Films: Hole Theory - Mahx Capacity (they/them) |AORTA films| “The hole is not the entry nor the exit--it is the infinite interior, the space which cannot be Seen, only Felt.” Hole expert Ashely Paige (she/her) and expert hole Corey More (they/them) star in this visceral meditation on the gloriousness of holes. With interdimensional illustrations by Oona Taper and sound design by Paleo Pony aka Jonah Rosenberg, Hole Theory explores the cosmic unknowability of that which engulfs. “Holes are the original time travel. You come out more yourself than you were when you entered: rearranged, holy, new. Holes make you whole.” Trust us. We know holes. GANGBANG - Christian Meola (he/him) |Austin, TX| GANGBANG deconstructs the presentation of male bodies in gay contemporary pornography. The film takes place in a bedroom that resembles a gay porn set. 6 male models occupy the space, surrounding an empty bed, and stare at you. They barely move, always keeping their smile, which is all the intimacy they offer.
