The film follows an American-born Palestinian woman named Soraya who travels to occupied Palestine in order to retrieve her grandfather’s savings that were frozen in a bank during the Nakba. Upon arriving, she meets Emad, who has long desired to leave Palestine. Their journey together becomes a story of love and tragedy within the context of occupation, settler-colonialism and the struggle of right of return. The film won 12 international awards and was designated as the Palestinian entry to the Oscars in 2009. Milwaukee 4 Palestine will lead a group discussion after the screening. Please follow them for crucial updates about how to be involved in getting the Ceasefire Resolution passed by the Milwaukee County Board Supervisors at their next meeting on March 21st.
