Sparkbird is the project of NYC-based singer-songwriter Stephan Nance (they/them). Their breakout single “November,” described as “a masterpiece of contemporary musical artistry” (Sinusoidal Music), amassed 5 million streams on Spotify in its first year. Sparkbird’s songwriting has earned praise for its blend of speculative storytelling and a “slice-of-life aesthetic… reminiscent of Sufjan Stevens and Joni Mitchell” (Good Music Radar). They have toured the US and Canada in support of Madilyn Mei, Shayfer James, and Fish in a Birdcage.
