Self-Love Buttons Workshop
Join Braided Magazine‘s Ladasia Bryant in a therapeutic act of art and self-love. Let’s make some buttons! Despite their simple appearance, these tiny accessories have done a great deal for the world today, giving humanity self-expression and a sense of freedom. We are going to embody that small insignificance we feel and show ourselves how important the smallest things can be to ourselves and how our lives can be so impactful, no matter how small. We are making buttons to show ourselves some love as really being just small beings in this universe, and give ourselves a daily small act of love we can do by simply putting on our pins for the day.
| Today, we will learn a brief history of buttons and the revolutions they greatly impacted, using zines and hands-on looks at my button inventory. Then participants can join me in a therapeutic act of art and self-love. You can make up to 3 buttons with a plethora of things to use in creating them, from ribbons, feathers, sparkles, and more. Braided Magazine is a BIPOC-led collective dedicated to amplifying the voices, stories, and creativity of Black, Indigenous, and People of Color. Through the distribution of zines, development of resources for artists and educators, and the cultivation of community spaces, Braided weaves together art, education, and activism. |
