EventMilwaukee, a city along Lake Michigan with a population of 600,000 is the countries most segregated metropolitan area. African American’s make up roughly 40 percent of the cities population and are concentrated mainly on the North Side.
Throughout the past few years the city of Milwaukee has experienced tensions associated with police brutality, disenfranchisement and racism stemming from the 2016 murder of Syville Smith. Whom was killed by the hands of a Milwaukee Police. This incident led to violence and rioting on Milwaukee’s north side. Away from the many breweries and festivals lies a world of strife and pain.
Milwaukee is a community in need of healing. Join us Saturday, Nov 10th at Cactus Club as we address personal stories or tragedy, trauma and triumph with a hip hop sound track featuring Milwaukee emcees Armstrong Ransome, Kareem City, MGK as well as Milwaukee poet and motivational speaker Muhibb Dyer and Chicago’s very own edutainment duo Organized Muzik.
