Join us online (LINK HERE) to hear from ITC 2026 virtual artist-in-residence Cynthia Marie Hoffman. 

Poet and essayist Cynthia Marie Hoffman will talk about her memoir-in-progress; the challenges and charms of writing about OCD, metal music, and the Gen X mental health experience in the early 90s; and making the mid-career genre leap from poetry to prose. 
 
She’ll be interviewed by poet Angela Voras-Hills (UWM English Dept.), author of Louder Birds and host of the Milwaukee-based reading series The Book Drop. 
Cynthia Marie Hoffman is the author of four collections of poetry, most recently the OCD memoir in prose poems, Exploding Head. Poems in Electric Literature and The Believer, and essays in TIME, The Sun, and Lit Hub. She’s currently at work on a prose memoir in 10 songs (from Metallica to Tool to Adam Lambert) about coming of age in the early 90s as a guitar-toting metalhead with then-undiagnosed OCD. Cynthia lives in Madison, WI. www.cynthiamariehoffman.com
