Fueled by social justice, pop punk artist and songwriter Jack The Underdog writes music for the misfits of society. Jack understands the battles of feeling unheard, & he aims to be a voice for the marginalized and misunderstood, hoping they can find some solace in his lyrics. Jack began his career writing songs for himself & high school band, Painting Stars, in his hometown of Saint Paul, Minnesota. As his music began to grow, Jack felt led to Nashville, as he continued his music education at Belmont University. Within his first few months in Nashville, Jack & the band were given the opportunity to open for the punk rock group The Story So Far. Jack is also a member of the Riot House (@riothousehq), an independent collective of alternative artists that creates original music, mashups, covers, and social media content for the alternative scene. As a member of the LGBTQIA+ community, Jack continues to represent the underdogs, finding ways to bring awareness to important social topics, and looks to fill listeners of his music with positivity and a sense of belonging and comes with a side of sarcasm). Jack also works full-time at a non-profit that works to prevent SV/SH across the state of Tennessee Most recently, Jack released his debut album of original music, “HAPPY SADDERDAY!”. Nashville based pop/rock band davvn (pronounced dawn) creates new nostalgic music influenced by growing up in the early 2000s.
Few artists would consider leaving “live music capital of the world” Austin for the Midwest. Gold Steps not only chose that path–they’re thriving on it. With their 2022 EP That Ain’t It, released on Revival Recordings, the band marks a new era of assertiveness, calling out toxic influences with hook-laden, brutal honesty and revealing growth towards a more polished, pop-forward sound.
EP singles “Petty,” and “Stay The Same,” quickly became fan favorites, the latter featuring vocalist Liz Mauritz directing razor-sharp jabs at a toxic friend. Self-empowerment and autonomy are central themes on the record, as well as the band’s signature self-reflection and vulnerability, best showcased on final track “Gatsby,” a synthy apology letter to a neglected love. Mauritz describes, “I’ve grown to appreciate the intensity of my emotions…how powerful my love, my fury, and my pain can be. I hope That Ain’t It inspires others to feel the power in their own emotions, really live in those moments, appreciate them—it’s what makes us uniquely human.”
Kicking off 2023 with a new sound, Gold Steps released their poppy new track “Undercover.” “Undercover” is available on all digital platforms now!
