Show Lineup

Mammifer

(Seattle, WA)

In support of their forthcoming album, The World Unseen - due out April 1st, Mamiffer have announced a two week tour in March and April. Following their performance at Treefort Music Festival in Boise (March 24-27), Mamiffer will play four shows that will take them to Knoxville, TN for Big Ears Festival, then they'll circle back through the midwest for four more dates that will end at Mission Creek Festival in Iowa City. Check out the tour routing, which also includes stops in Denver, Omaha, Columbia, St. Louis, Cincinnati, Chicago, Milwaukee & Minneapolis, below.

Mamiffer recently unveiled the first single off of The World Unseen, "Mara", on Noisey, which was described as having an "emotional landscape that's rich and full, yet leaves enough ambiguity to dramatically alter what one might absorb from listen to listen." Through the use of piano, voice, guitar, Wurlitzer organ, bass synthesizer, tape machines, and effects pedals, The World Unseen is an eight-song aural lexicon that vacillates between Arvo Pärt’s delicate minimalist beauty, Thomas Köner’s narcotic pulses of noise, and Richard Pinhas’ sublime textural patterns. Further expanding upon their explorations, Mamiffer enlisted Eyvind Kang for string arrangements. Geneviève Beaulieu (Menace Ruine) and Joe Preston (Thrones) make guest appearances on “Domestication of the Ewe pt. III”, contributing additional choral vocals and bass, and adding greater dimension to their auditory crossings. Despite this impressive arsenal of musicians and instruments, Mamiffer ultimately depends as much on empty space as they do upon the various oscillating frequencies within their sound.

Jon Mueller

(Milwaukee, WI)

n the late 1990s/early 2000s, Mueller was the drummer in the bands Pele and Collections of Colonies of Bees, eventually joining bandmates from these groups along with other musicians to form Volcano Choir. Volcano Choir’s 2013 record Repave debuted at number 40 on the Billboard charts. The group performed on the NBC show Late Night With Jimmy Fallon, experienced multiple sold out tours in the US, Canada, and Europe, and performed at international festivals such as Primavera and Osheaga.

From 1999 – 2009 he owned the recording label and promotion company Crouton, which published and promoted over 40 releases in deluxe presentations from artists such as The Hafler Trio, Asmus Tietchens, Z’EV, Osso Exotico, Daniel Menche, Jason Kahn, Raymond Dijkstra, Richard Chartier, Lionel Marchetti, Robert Hampson, Jarboe, and more. Crouton also organized events in the Milwaukee and Chicago areas with artists from around the world. These were documented by the press and even filmed as part of a PBS documentary on jazz musician Ken Vandermark.

Cleared

(Chicago, IL)

Cleared is the duo of Steven Hess (Locrian, Pan-American, Innode) and Michael Vallera (COIN, Maar). Cleared integrate elements of minimalism and sound design with the textures and spirit of early dream pop, weaving seemlessly between classic ambience and narcotic experimental rock.
