The Marked Men’s affinity for fast, choppy power chords and manic energy is well-collected on Dirtnap Records, who have released three of the band’s four albums. Although a garage-punk sound is this outfit’s main flavor, Marked Men’s bubbling instrumentation varies between candied Buddy Holly harmonies, melancholic ballads, and propulsive ’70s rockers — think leather jackets and motorbikes fueled by TaB and orange Crush. After an extended hiatus, the Denton, TX band have reunited for a U.S. tour.
Chinese Telephones are a pop-punk band from Milwaukee, Wisconsin. They started in 2004 and have five releases out, including a split 12″ with the Potential Johns and a 2007 self-titled LP/CD. They have been featured in Maximumrocknroll, Razorcake, Punk Planet, and the webcomic Nothing Nice To Say.
Minneapolis basement lifers Constant Insult formed in 2014. Their driving, catchy punk rock is built from cathartic harmonies, colliding guitars, and frenetic tempos, all held together with Midwestern desperation and charm. After 2015’s rapid-fire self-titled EP, the band returned in 2020 with History in Shorthand, showcasing an evolution furthered on their 2023 demo and forthcoming second LP.
