Music Go Round and Volta Records return with another installment of our all ages show series, once again at Cactus Club on March 21. With a secondary goal of bridging the gap and fostering relationships between Milwaukee and scenes in other cities, this evening’s lineup features two prominent Milwaukee bands alongside one of Chicago’s best up and comers.

In Shining Armour (Milwaukee, WI)

In Shining Armour formed in 2023, with drummer Aidan Hoppens and guitarist/vocalist Seth Kaplan coming together over a shared love of loud guitar-driven alt rock. Their debut EP Spirit Hound is set for release on February 27, its five tracks combining tidy and hook-laden songcraft with walls of crunchy guitars and dynamic drumming.

Forktail (Milwaukee, WI)

Forktail formed in 2023 as friends in Wisconsin, Ohio and Utah trading files with each other via email. Now based in Milwaukee, the five piece blur the lines between folk-tinged indie rock and the more dynamic side of 2000s emo. Lush harmonies, dreamy touches of lap steel, and metronome-tight drums are all front and center on Forktail’s debut album Olive, released in November 2024.

Able Baker (Chicago, IL)

Originating in Madison, Chicago’s Able Baker have spent the last few years refining their brand of melodic, guitar-driven indie rock, making a name for themselves amongst the city’s vibrant DIY scene. The last year plus has been dedicated to the completion of their newest full length, the release date of which is currently tbd. If quintessential late 90s / early 2000s indie rock is your thing, Able Baker will surely not disappoint.
