Harm Reduction

Established: 2019
Cost: Free
All Ages

Harm reduction is community care.

Beyond periodic Narcan trainings, we keep condoms, dental dams, Narcan, fentanyl test strips, and plan B in-stock and available for free near the front door. Additionally, we host free programming throughout the year that underscores the broad intersections of harm reduction and mutual aid as tied to health care access, food and housing justice and environmentalism. We welcome proposals and requests for additional programming from event organizers and community members alike.

Programs include:

  • Earth Day Park Clean-up (annual in April)
  • First time Home Buyer workshops
  • Free resource library near front door: Narcan, fentanyl test strips, condoms, dental dams, plan B, posters, literature from local orgs
  • Harm Reduction Series
  • Healthcare Power-of-Attorney workshops
  • Seedling Sale with Hazelwood Farm (annual in May)
  • Seed Swap with Hazelwood Farm (annual in April)
  • Seed Library
  • Solar Array
  • Suicide Prevention/Awareness shows

2023 Series

All events include opioid overdose prevention training. Participants given free Narcan. 18yo+ unless accompanied by a guardian. Free. No registration required.

Sexual Health and Harm Reduction is an introduction to HIV/STIs and harm reduction strategies.  Our goal is to minimize the spread of infectious diseases and the risks associated with substance use. This workshop will also include Narcan training. We will be raffling a swag basket, including items from the Tool Shed, our local sex toy and education shop.

Harm Reduction 101 & Medication Assisted Treatment 101 The term “harm reduction” has been used more frequently in the last few years. You may have heard the term before but wondered what harm reduction really is. Come join CMS in exploring an introductory presentation of harm reduction: What is it, how is it used, who uses it, and how does it help?

Medication Assisted Treatment 101: An introductory presentation about medication assisted treatment for opioid use disorder (MAT). How do they work? What do they do? Do they really help? Come join us in getting a basic understanding of what medications for opioid use disorder (MOUD) are and how they are instrumental in combating the overdose crisis and helping those living with opioid use disorder.

Call to Action Learn how this local mutual aid organization connects community members to AODA related harm reduction resources, regardless of socioeconomic barriers, and also learn how you can become involved in increasing access to life saving harm reduction tools. This event will include opioid overdose prevention training, a new volunteer orientation, and free Narcan kit for attendees. Come for the Narcan, stay for the mutual aid!
