Ableton User Group Meetup #5
This is the FIFTH official Ableton User Group Milwaukee meetup.
This is a 21+ event.
Itinerary below (times are approximate)
2:30 – Organizers and performers setup the backroom with the club’s sound engineer.
3:00 – EVENT START
Check in and sign-up for “Show Your Project” and make sure to scoop a name tag. Before starting the demos, attendees will have a chance to introduce themselves, talk briefly about their musical background, and how long they’ve been using Live.
3:00 – 3:45 – “How to use Ableton Link”
demonstration by Phillip from “Inversion Drive”
“Link” is Ableton’s proprietary wireless syncing solution. Phillip will walk through connecting via Link-enabled mobile apps and recording a song. He’ll incorporate two volunteers to jam along with him on an iPhone and an iPad he’s bringing.
Phillip is a musician and software developer currently working on his own music production app.
4:00 – 4:45 – “Using Plugins to Create Drum Tracks”
demonstration by Russell Hall aka Bell & Circuit / Twelves
Russell intends to show some his techniques on how he uses slicing plugins to create beat variations.
5:00 – 5:45 – “Mixing, Post-processing and Sound Design”
demonstration by Alex Michuda aka Just a Human
Alex intends to play 2 tracks and dive deeper into the way he mixes, handles post processing and sound design.
Track 1 will be an ambient / soundtrack style arrangement
Track 2 will be a lo-fi electronic style arrangement
5:45 – 6:15 (time-permitting) – Show Your Project
Group members may present their Live projects and get feedback from the group. If there are a lot of presenters, we should keep these short. Make sure to sign-up when you get to the meet-up, and we will go in that order until we run out of names, or until the club kicks us out of the back room.
6:15 – ? – Drinks and socializing in the bar. Stick around for the live show. There will be an early show from 6-10 and a late show afterward. Busy day at the club.
If anyone needs to eat before or after the event, check out Palomino (next door). They can cater to meat eaters, vegetarians and vegans alike. A quick jaunt up the street will lead you to Vanguard, Honey Pie, and a few other Bay View restaurants.
