Cactus Club is pleased to announce an open-call for participants in our Beet Street Music Video Showcase. Beet Street is a collaborative block party celebrating multimedia art in Milwaukee with seasonal foods, drinks, community organizations, artisan vendors, multigenre music, film and more. This year’s festival is Saturday, October 9th 2021 in Bay View between Cactus Club, Goodkind and Palomino. We are inviting artists and filmmakers of all experience levels to share their music videos and music-related film projects. Youth are especially encouraged to participate. Filmmakers do not need to be based in Milwaukee, but should have some ties to the city and/or club. The showcase will premiere at Cactus Club from noon-5p during the festival.

Please make video submissions through this short form [link]. We invite makers of all genres and disciplines to submit videos. If you’re interested in making a video this month, we have assembled a document of resources for inspiration: https://docs.google.com/document/d/1c8a9AWS4MnafLZm0ktTRr2OIxYTi_U72VeqsymN5hMs/edit?usp=sharing
Partner with a local musician and shoot on your cell phone, use internet archives, claymation, animation, stop motion. The possibilities are pretty endless.
The video showcase will also debut two new episodes of the CC Video Series featuring Pinc Louds (NYC) and El Shirota (Mexico) shot and edited by Paula Lovo and Enzo DeMay.
As always, no hateful content will be accepted. We’re a space committed to creating a welcoming and inclusive environment. Please upload your completed video file by the end of the day Friday, October 1st. Artists may submit multiple videos. Not all submissions are guaranteed to screen. Feel free to email me at movingimage@cactusclubmilwaukee.com with any questions/concerns at any point in this project. I am happy to brainstorm or share resources.
