2021’s LP “Deciphering The Message,” released on Blue Note, pulls from the label’s legendary catalog and takes classic standards in new directions, combining traditionalist methods with avant-experimentalism. Amongst an all-star cast of yesterday’s legends and today’s virtuosos, McCraven’s latest work memorably weaves modern sampling and airtight studio work.
KASE is Jamie Breiwick (trumpet), John Christensen on (acoustic bass), and Jordan Lee (turntables and electronics). KASE invents textural soundscapes – incorporating live beats, turntablism, electronic elements, free improvisation and extended forms into the music that is crafted and created spontaneously. References for this project run the gamut from the contemporary mainstream to the avant garde to the classic… mixing jazz & hiphop – different branches of the same tree. That said, KASE has created something new and unexpected with this band. You are invited to join them on that journey.
R.A.T.M.A.N. was created in 2020 by drummer Sam Kacala, as a collection of music
experiments & projects. Stemming from the analysis of mistakes during the creative process
R.A.T.M.A.N. includes eccentric approaches to; performance, studio recording, fabrication and
more. As the experiments grow, R.A.T.M.A.N. aims to continue its collaborative efforts,
specifically within the city of Milwaukee.
