After building a devoted online following as a solo artist, Del Cid teamed up with instrumentalists Toni Lindgren, Andrew Foreman, and Nate Babbs to develop a sophisticated sound with broad appeal, drawing in mixed crowds from jamheads to college students to white haired intelligentsia.
Their music has been featured by Paste Magazine, NPR, and Baeble Music, and they released their third full length album, Rerun City, in December of 2017.
Caley Conway takes the stage in candy apple red, slinging a matching telecaster and a new set of rules for the singer/songwriter paradigm. Rooted in folk but hardly bound to it, her inventive style ranges from jazz to post-rock, hints at the familiar, and embraces a dissonant beauty. The Milwaukee native’s breezy voice and disarming wit belie a deep complexity that has earned her praise as “the next big thing in folk music” by No Depression Magazine. Paste Magazine praised her 2016 full-length Silk for Life as “an ambitious piece that puts Conway on the map.” 2018 saw her sharing stages with the likes of Phoebe Bridgers, Julien Baker, Joan Shelley and more. Equally enthralling as a solo performer or a full band with backup singers, Conway leaves rooms hushed; her audiences somewhere between chilled and chuckling. Her new EP is slated for release early this year.
Kristane Thrower, better known by her stage name as Grey Genius is not afraid of staying true to her story, defying the notion of fitting within the confines of any particular genre. She exposes herself to all types of music and feels that she has been blessed with a limitless style, which makes her feel like a genius. This ingenuity has led her to performances at Turner Hall & Freespace’s: FEMMESPACE, among many others.
Meet Kia Rap Princess. Kia is a unique female emcee from Milwaukee, WI. She was emersed in music at an early age and took to it quickly. Growing up on everything from R&B to Jazz, Kia’s musicality was destined to make her a star. And as expected, Kia’s talents took her pretty far. In 2007 she landed a meeting with some Sony A&R reps in California, who ultimately wanted to sign her. Unfortunately, Sony suffered from a buyout and things didn’t quite pan out for the rap princess. However, Kia didn’t let that stop her from pushing for her dream. She returned to Milwaukee and is now linked up with Blaqlizt Music. Determined to bring about a positive change amongst her people and bring back some dignity to the image of the female emcee, Kia is on a fast track to the top and doesn’t appear to be slowing down any time soon.
